If you haven't been to Eaton Rapids since last year's Urban Airstream event, here's what's new in town!
1. The rapids are back
Eaton Rapids has brought the rapids back, opening up more of the river for kayaking and fishing!
2. mark's got a new place
Before we go any further, Yes, Mark's still serving up those delicious gourmet dogs from his Hot Diggity Dog Stand, but now he and his wife Krysta have opened Mark's Place, right in the heart of downtown Eaton Rapids. You won't find hotdogs here, but they're serving up coffee, delicious wraps, bubble drinks, salads, and rice bowls in an awesomely relaxed atmosphere. They've also got a selection of board games to play while you eat, and don't forget to check out their schedule of Open Mic Nights and jam on.
3. New Craft beer pub and restaurant
Eaton Rapids Craft Co. is slated to open in August, right on Main Street! They'll be serving lunch, dinner, craft brews and wine, and they have an outdoor bar and patio along the river!
4. Eaton rapids is officially best small town in michigan
We always knew Eaton Rapids was the best, but the Lansing State Journal held a competition and made it official!
5. New outdoor recreation center
Visit the new Eaton Rapids Outdoor Recreation Center and rent kayaks to explore the new rapids, or rent bikes to roll around the city! They also offer drinks and snacks, water bottles, apparel, and bait for fishing!
Eaton Rapids won the Best Small Town in Michigan in a competition held by the Lansing State Journal!
Nominated for the "historic, quaint, and charming" category, Eaton Rapids was listed along with three other Michigan towns in this category. The city then went toe-to-toe with 15 other small towns in Michigan in a bracket-style competition. Other towns included, Charlevoix, Saugatuck, South Haven, Frankenmuth and St. Ignace, to name a few, and in the end, it came down to Eaton Rapids vs. Charlevoix, with Eaton Rapids winning by only SIX votes.
